CPU temps?

My new Sandybridge i7 (see signature) seems to be running hot - 45 degrees at idle, going up to 60 at least under load playing games. This seems to hot to me

Anyone have any experience of this? Cheers

Shouldn't really be running that hot at stock. I expect that you're using the stock cooler though, which is probably why, if it is the case. You can get a cooler that's 20x better for very little money.

I've got an Arctic Cooler 7 from my Conroe, I may fit that instead, looking at it it appears to be the same to fit.

I'm not satisfied with those temperatures to be honest. I even suspect now in the cold light of day that maybe I didnt fit the stock cooler quite right right, though iirc all you have to do is push the clips in ...

Mine won't go above 56 at full load with DH14, so I wouldn't say yours was bad at all. Idle seems a touch high though, but you might have higher room temps or poorer air flow through case.

If you are overclocking just get a good cpu cooler, if not then you can get like a tx3 or something and that will reduce your temperatures at around 10-15oC load, idle will be a bit lower too. However when I had stock cooler I had 30 at idle and 70 load....

If Intel are still using that pathetic push pin design I would probably bet the cooler isn't attached as firmly as it could be.

As above, get a cheaper aftermarket cooler that has its own mounting kit.

Yeah I got me a Arctic 7 today, fitted it and now it's idling at 32 degrees as I type this.
