Hi....i'm looking to upgrade,and i'd like a little advice.

I'm currently using a Pentium D 920 2.8ghz presler in a Gigabyte GA-8I945PMF mobo from packard bell,unfortunately it has a locked bios,which prevents me from oc'ing it :(

i was looking to spend around a 100 pounds for a decent 775 mobo,so i could oc it to 3.0ghz,or maybe a little more ;) ... but after a bit of research it seems i could get myself an AMD x2 3.0 ghz cpu and a new AMD mobo for a little bit extra.I know my Pentium D is a bit old,but it runs very cool with a stock fan (18c as i type this) .. so i feel i could squeeze a bit more out of it.

So should i buy a new mobo and oc my Pentium D? or would i be better off getting an AMD X2 and mobo?.. i don't want to spend anymore than 130 to 150 max.

i'm grateful for any advice.Cheers

Thanks for the replies :)

@ jak731 ....I would attempt a Bios flash,but i'm not really sure how tbh.

@ PwnDirect ....I should have said before,i have it running in an ATX case already,so i wouldn't need to purchase a new case.. i'm using 4gigs of Crucial DDR2 ram aswell.

So i guess i should forget about oc'ing my Pentium D and just get a new Cpu?

That AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 550 3.10GHz does seem like a good deal.
