Okay well lets start with my current specs.
I7 2600 (NON K) Revison multipyer at x42
Motherboard : Asus p8 z77-v Deluxe
2 x manli GTX 780TI SLI
Ram: 8 Gig (2x4) Corsair Vengance Pro CMY8GX3M2A1866C9 1866Mhz
500Gb SSD
1 TB hdd
PSU: 750W Corsair CX750M

I play a lot of arma 3 and my cpu just cant handle the game. I get what i would call lag when i scope in, is this cpu bottle neck?. I was running two R9270x graphics cards in crossfire and the results where the same before i upgraded them.
Im planning to get a new cpu, water cooler for it and another 8 gig of ram also. I am also going to upgrade the psu to a 1200 w psu. Im just lost at what board and processor bundle to get and well to be fair to upgrade and get a hex core and ddr4 memory. I play a lot of call of duty, battlefield 4, arma and gta 5.

Thanks for any replies means a lot

Hi and welcome.

Is COD, BF4 and GTAV ok?

Arma 3 is a poorly coded game and I dont think anything can help you with that trash.

Your current spec looks great.

As for PSUs you do not need 1200W, keep what you have, its fine:)

Oh Arma 3. What you're experiencing is probably what most experience, it's not a very nicely optimised game (it's a great game, but not nicely built :( ). The 2600 is a very strong CPU still, I'd just lower settings or so and call it that - unless you are experiencing the same in other games too?

1200W is a bit too far for a new PSU, yes the CX750M is far from the best PSU in the world but you could get away with an 850W quality PSU like the EVGA G2, SuperFlower Leadex, Seasonic PSUs etc etc. You should be able to keep your current PSU though with *just* enough, but for safety I'd up to an 850W

I'd wait for Skylake at the end of this year and see what's what :) That'll be DDR4 and the 2600 is still a very very good CPU. Keep it

The problem is the lag i say the more i read is cpu bottleneck. I get this in most game if in crossfire x or sli. It drives me insane its in most games. Cod for instance, black ops 2 and advanced warfare. I scope in and it renders the scope but then a second later the rest of the view renders in. The only game that does not do anything like this is bf4. I must say it runs perfect. Is this crossfirex or sli problem ?
Gta 5 on the 780ti cards is not as good as the r9270x cards in crossfire. Game just looks no where near a good and there is the same problem with render lag. Could this be that the cpu and graphics cards need mor epower ?

Try removing a card and running a single gfx card.

What resolution do you play at.

Do a reinstall latest drivers for the boards chipset and the latest Nvidia driver fresh from their website.

Err.

Intel INF drivers, and whatever else the board needs (sound, USB etc) then drivers from Nvidias website for the cards.

You shouldn't be getting lag on zooming in on arma 3 I don't get that on a dual core.

Arma 3 is server side frames limited like the one I play on doesn't give anyone more than 45 fps.

Have you got all the right startup parameters set on arma 3 ?

Mine looks like this I have a dual core haswell Your 2600 i think should be 4 cpu 7 threads

-cpuCount=2 -exThreads=3 -maxMem=7168 -maxVRAM=3072 -nolauncher

Check temps on the cards while playing, you can use GPU-Z for this and it also has a log to file function.

IS the cpu temp ok, use realtemp.

Thanks I'll try theperamirers in arms 3 tonight when I get home from work. It might help but I get this lag in most games. I'll look at the cpu tempretues for all cores also. Might need new thermal past under the heat shield. I saw a tutorial on changing the thermal compound.

parameters definitely work can put ram to whatever but I am not sure arma 3 can use over 4gb ram anyway

also it's not well optimized server side sometimes the lag might be the server and not you

I'm running fire strike now and keeping a eye on cpu temps and you temps. Strange thing is its stunning to watch no glittering in the screen , no lag it's just fluent. When I jump in any games I get a stutter or lag even in single player mode.

Have you done something daft such as set AA+AF to levels within the game options to something your setup simply cant manage?

I dont mess with in game settings as i dont know what they do, when i got the cards nvidia geforce did optimise the games for me. I had this with the crossfirex setup i had, the lag or gittering. Ill set everything to defalt in games now and test. Thanks for all the replies and the help mate i have taken so much of your time and i do appreciate it.

Glittering.

Like little sparkly stars/pixels randomly on screen? thats a sign of dead RAM on a graphics card usually.
