CPU upgrade or nah?

Currently got a 5800X on an MSI b450m Mortar Max with a an XFX 6700X GPU.

Was wondering if trading in the 5800X and switching to an X3D model 5600/700/800 would be a worthwhile change or not.

What do you use the PC for? What resolution do you play at?

Are you on a budget?

I have a 5700X not the 3D with a 7900XTX at 4K and I weighed up the option of going to a 3D but figured I'd save the money until I do a full upgrade at AM6. So it might not be worth it, you could look into a new gfx card? As it'll be fine to carry that over if you ever end up upgrading the rest?

Almost solely for gaming. Typically FPS and Strategy games.

It's possible you may see some more stable FPS, fewer FPS dips etc. and the strategy games may see a bit of an uplift but honestly it'll not be a large amount.

I went from a 5600X with a small overclock to a 5800x3d and didn't notice any real change in either C2700 or TWW III

Realistically, unless you're noticing the 1% lows you wont notice any difference with an X3D chip of the same generation.

Undervolt/overclock the 5800x with fixed voltage and you'll see a nice improvement to your one percent lows
