CPU upgrade please help

I have ASUS g11cd with an i5 6400 2.7ghz turbo up to 3.2ghz and I want to buy an i5 9600k, can I just install this with stock motherboard without any difference to coolers? Apparently the sockets are the same LGA1151?

Thx for your in-depth answer man. But £300 for only an extra 400mhz? Seems a bit of a rubbish upgrade, there any tricks to make mine run a bit faster?

Sorry, I was looking at a model that is 3.6ghz not the 4.0ghz one

Thanks guys, in the interim I’ve used command prompt and started using windows ultimate performance mode, is this safe to do so? Not gonna fry my computer or anything?
