CPU Upgrade Question.

Hi guys, I currently have a E2160 that I'm finding alittle sluggish. Are there any reasonable second hand upgrades for £50-60 that would be a worthwhile investment?

You may be able to get a E6750/6850 or a E7000 series for around that price. £75 or so get's you a Q6600.

I still run a E6600 matched with a 4890 & game loads, The chip does sit @ 3.4ghz though.
I've seen them in M&M for less than fifty quid.

Small note - I have got two fans on my rad pushing & pulling air through, It's a Great bodge i mean Mod.

Anyway get a E6600 & clock it's **** off.

My partners system is built around an E5300/ATI3870 which she games on quite heavily at 1680x1050. The E5300 is less than £50 new and clocked to 3.6GHz without much effort.

I'd go for the Athlon x3 440, can be had for around £65 and seems to be pretty capable. Reviewed very positively by Tom's Hardware.

You may want to read the OP again, that wont fit his motherboard.

Are you running the Intel® Pentium® E2160 at stock or is it overclocked? . . . . what motherboard and memory do you have please?

can you expand on what you mean by "sluggish"
