CPU upgrade required

My mobo is Asustek A8NE-fm
Current CPU is AMD 64 X2 4800+

Would like to upgrade this without too much fuss (new mobo, etc)....is this possible? How do i find out?

Hmm, Socket 939. Long dead socket and it looks like you have the best Socket 939 CPU already so you'd have to upgrade your motherboard and RAM in addition to your CPU.

AFAIK,that is a socket 939 motherboad and the socket 939 X2 4800+ was one of the fastest CPUs available for that socket.

On the famous auction website you can get between £70 to £100 for the CPU.

Sell what you have on MM and get a new setup, or wait a bit longer and go ivybridge/bulldozer when they finally come out.

Yeah, the 4800+ is pretty much as good as it gets on 939. I should know, I only retired my A8N32-SLI and 3700+ a month ago. You'll need a major overhaul to feel the difference, I'm afraid - that's what I did.
