Hey,

Currently running the rig in my signature, and will be looking at upgrading the CPU shortly, staying with AMD for financial reasons.

I have a really old board, KN9GM2 and on MSI's archives, the CPU's supported are listed.

The following is NOT supported by my board;

Athlon 64 x2 6000+ (F3, 125W)

Whereas this one below is;

Athlon 64 x2 6000+ (F3, 89W)

What is the difference, and how can i tell if i'm purchasing the right model from OCUK as i don't want to end up with a part that isn't compatible.

Cheers in advance for any advice and or assistance.

That doesn't answer my question, i've asked the above after analysing the link you gave, i've checked CPU Support and it says the F3 125W is not supported but the F3 85W is.

So how do i know if i'm buying the right chip?

send them a webnote asking if the chips they have are the ones you require.
they're a helpfull bunch.

I asked that and posted the link to be sure that we were both talking about the same thing. You mis-transcribed the all-important model number of your motherboard and did not link to the page to which you referred.

As Jobe said, the only real way to see what you'll get is to call and ask. IIRC they make no guarantees but they at least could give you some guidance.
