hey guys

iv'e been deciding whether to upgrade my CPU or Graphics card.

im currently running a Dual Core 3 GHZ, however been noticing that games like BC2 are stuggling i've been looking at a Quad Core, unfortunately my mobo is pretty old and quad is the max upgrade i can have, i currently own a GTX260 factory overclocked.

so would the Quad Core be a sensible upgrade, it would be great if i could upgrade to a i7 but it's too much.

cheers

Looking at the BC2 VGA Chart at Tom's Hardware, I would guess upgrading the graphics card would be the best option. The E8400 is a good chip so would keep that for now.

What memory and hard disk do you have? As they could be holding it back a little too.

i have a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

And 4 Gb of Mem

i have about £150 spare i was thinking the GTX 460, however how does the ATI 6850 stand, looking at the latest threads they are on par?

Yep, on par atm.
But the 6850 is new, so its likely that with new drivers it will get better.
Id go for the 6850, and then when you fancy an upgrade buy a 2nd. These cards scale really well in CF

BC2 does like it's cores. I'd be looking at numerous VGA charts, to see what resolution you play at, comparing the GTX260 and GTX460 framerates. What framerates are you getting on average atm?
