CPU Vids

Wounded. The mans clearly a ****, it happens. On the bright side, he may have just been really crap at overclocking, 3.4ghz out of a q6600 certainly suggests that. I reckon negative feedback then clock it anyway. I stick by high vid <> bad overclocking.

Sorry to hear it man :(

Yeah I think you are right. Dont know why he's being a tool about it for the sake of £10, as he has positive feedbacks (until now) Maybe he just thought he could get one over on me and I wouldnt be bothered

Ive stuck my old Q6600 back in that has a vid of 1.3125, so its at 3.6 again

Give the new one a try, it takes a good couple of hours to lap the damned things so it's a shame not to see what it can do.

I'd guess he's been caught out knowing less than he'd like to believe he does, so pride is getting in the way of common sense. He does have a point r.e. lapping, loads of people seem to think that's a bad thing to do to a processor. This neatly reinforces the ignorance theory, good odds it was a "honest mistake" (until I read your link).

I did try it but my current one is lapped and sits at 3.6ghz

I tried the one I bought for a couple of hours but was not stable at 3.6ghz. It was at 3.4, which by all accounts is better than why he was able to get it to. Lapping seemed to have helped (if most do, when i did it i could see it was rounded as it left metal on the middle part of the chip)

Right enough is enough.

Im the seller of this cpu!! and to be quite honest im sick of the whole farce that surrounds it.

Yes I told Guest it had a "vid" of 1.26 because that is what coretemp reported it as when I was asked to find the information for him. I DONT USE CORETEMP EVER!!

I use realtemp and like I have emailed Guest many times to say in the settings on Realtemp like im sure a lot of you educated guys know it has a low vid and a high vid. This info was also passed on.

Now im not saying I dont trust the fella, what im saying here is that enough people have come forward to back up my story on different vids being displayed.

The whole reason for this post however is the fact that Guest has been a bit of a detective snooping around my previous posts!! Now im not against this and on the plus side it shows the lad has some nouse but and its a big BUT arnt we all on this site as "computer freeks". Ive tinkered with pc's now for just over a year. In fact its when I swapped out an old 9500gt out of an ancient HP machine that the bug really bit. Since then ive been swapping and changing upgrading and downgrading.

I also understand what lapping can do for a chip, just in case the person who posted suggesting I didnt know the benefits is reading.

Im loving reading guests replys to posts as when he quotes my email correspondance with him he conveniently misses large chunks out or then just decides to mis quote me. For the record im a supermarket manager and I run a multi million pound store NOT own one lol.

The posts he sees on a Q6600 made by myself only a few days ago are completly true. I still have that chip. It was bought from another member on the MM and for the purposes of why it was bought was because It went into my brothers pc which is a 2 year old Dell Xps, but like all enthusiasts I put it into my 790i to have a play and was shocked at how badly it performed to a previous chip I owned. In fact the guy who bought that chip has posted in this thread and there was no mention of him getting a bad chip there.

Im just frustrated that this person had to start this thread and try to convey sympathy for himself. The one thing that people need to ask the question is, is this" Is Guest telling the truth?"

I have no proof and he cant supply any that the chip he claims is mine is actually the one I sent and for that major reason after a lot of thought is why I wont offer any type of refund. If the chip hadnt been butchered with lapping and a ridiculous amount of voltage put through it over 1.55v I would have gladly taken it back with a full refund but as Del Boys says "No way pedro" now.

As far as im concerned this matter is now closed. I wont comment on it again and if im suspended from this site or ultimately banned by the Dons for this post at least I have attempted to clear my name! Why would I want to ruin my 100% trust for something as little as a tenner refund or £85 for a chip. Ive lost a hell of a lot more betting on the horses.

Now I realise that this post is gonna raise a lot of red flags with people who I have chatted with and bought and sold with on here but I assure them all I have always dealt with integrity, people will avoid dealing with me now and I accept that after making this post but like I said from the outset enough is enough and Chris its time to defend yourself fella.

Couldnt you say the same thing about any second hand product that you sell?

I bought a XFX GTX275 off Chris and when it came I tested it and it worked great.
Then sent a email to him saying so. Deal done.In fact I got the XFX Core edtion so I am even happier.

Then I bought his Quad off him. It arrived on time I emailed saying I would test it and get back to him.
I tested the Quad and it was great I emailed back. Deal done(thanks Chris).

Guest2 look in my trust and you will see. I think you should just stop and grow a pair.
This should have been done on msn or what ever.

ChrisLandin learn to type man, really wanted to read that but I swear I missed out / reread so many lines.

I am sure your a decent seller, but the reason people pay over the odds for some CPU's is that they thing good VID = good overclocker... And if that isn't true you should have just sold it for the bog standard price. (aka me @ £75 hah)

Just let Guest2 leave negative feedback and explain properly what his problem was and I am sure it won't affect your sales too much since this has been blown way out of proportion.

Guest2 leave the bloody tenner, I know your northern but seriously..

Chris: You sold this processor with a quoted vid, knowing full well that a lower vid increases value. That you are quoted saying this particular chip clocks badly, and has a high vid, means you are guilty of fraud.

****er.

Ok, so this thread has got a bit foul-tempered, and it seems my posts have had some place in the discussion.

I just want to say I was posting to try to provide some explanation as to what might have happened and how an incorrect VID could be obtained from Coretemp.

I don't intend to make any extrapolations from this to any moral argument about where culpability lies.

I don't think having this explanation in place really changes anything regarding what should be done about providing a VID to a buyer that eventually turns out to be erroneous. It just indicates how it can happen without deliberate duplicity necessarily being involved.

The rest is still to worked out between buyer and seller. I wouldn't want anyone to take what I had written as providing an argument for settling anything either way.

lol

Yeah. I guess it does.

(I am not a politician, by the way) :)

Seriously, though, I don't think it's my place to make any intervention into what is becoming quite a contested situation here, and I don't really want what I posted before to be taken as my coming down on any particular side. I just think that would be inappropriate. Not to mention taking that route seems like a recipe for peeing people off.

I like the quite life, me :)

Guest is in the wrong too for lapping it before fully testing it.

You cant alter a product then demand a refund.

But even so if it's genuine and the VID quoted was a lie then I can see it worthy of a refund tbh.

Lesson learned is write down the exact numbers on the chip etc so you know someone hasn't swapped it over for a bad clocker.

I do this when I sell graphics cards so someone cant turn round and swap it for a non working one and claim a refund.

I am thoroughly unimpressed that you choose to misuse the trust system on here to spam my inbox with abuse.
