Ok guys, so i have my amd phenom ii 955 OC stable to 4022.7mhz @ 1.500V (211.7mhz x 19.0mhz)

but while running prime95 (64-bit) the cpu voltage drops to 1.116V the multiplier to 4.0x and clock to 846.9mhz

Whats going on?

p.s - my ram is at 1410mhz (from 1333mhz)
and my HT link is at 2117.0mhz

never had this problem ever with any overclock :/

Thats AMD PowerGo (or Powernow, whatever).

Basically, it drops the multiplier and Voltage to save power when the CPU isn't overstressed.

You can disbale it in the bios.

can you run coretemp beside prime95 and double check the results....

does this just happen under 100% load?

Ok maybe my board is abit new, it wont detect temps in coretemp (0 C)

And the VID reads at 1.3V then drops to 0.925V
(in speedfan and bios they read as 1.5V and drop to 1.116V

hmm...

liam try dissabling it in the bios like jamiman suggested sounds like thats what it is....intel have something similiar called speedstep

Ok just gone into bios no such options exist but i've made sure cool'n'quiet and all that jazz is disabled...

just tested it now and its done it again ... hmm

its not windows either my power settings are maxed out ... hmm.

Ok so i even clocked it down to 3800mhz and as soon as it goes over 51ish it clocks down

it must be the VRM's since my mobo doesnt have a VRM cooler :(

any ideas where you can buy one?
