I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ which has a stock clock speed of 2600mhz
i currently have managed to overclock it to 3125mhz but i could get further.
the only thing stopping me is my board seems to prohibit me choosing the cpu voltage going higher than 1.35v.
i've tried updating the bios too that didnt help.
P.S - i have an asus m2n4-sli motherboard.

is there a way to overclock via software or am i officially stuck?

Give AMD Overdrive a try although it may not work at all with your setup.

Here's (I think) your Motherboards Manual http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2N4-SLI/e2670_m2n4-sli.pdf

Under the CPU Voltage section it states "Options Vary depending on CPU installed" but doesn't give any figures.

Seems it's your CPU holding you back according to this,

Mods please let me know if the links are a no no!

hey thanks for the reply, amd overdrive wont work as my board has a nvidia chipset (nforce4)

and the voltage thing, well ive seen someone clock it at 4.2ghz with 1.7V core voltage so there must be a way to do it :)

3125 is a decent clock for a 65nm Athlon X2 5000+. You may find you can't get that much higher even with a voltage bump.

yeah its not bad, im just one of those people who if theres a way to get more bang for your buck then go for it :P

4200mhz is way tastier than 3125 :P
