Hey,

Want to start OC'ing my 955BE as i've my pc built since September and havn't done any Overclocking with it. So i bought a 'second hand' radiator, pump and cpu block.
XSPC RX 120 Radiator
XSPC X2O 450 Pumpstation
HEATKILLER® CPU Rev3.0 754/939/AM2/AM3 LT Water Block [10195]

Also bought Nanoxia Extreme Stark 1000ml water and Cool Laboratory Liquid Metal Pro Cooling Paste thinking i could get going.

And then the problems started. Simply the radiator won't fit into my case (CM Storm Scout). At the back the rad blocks room for the 8pin and its just to big to mount as srews don't line up, at the top it gets in way of the ram. Can't put it anywhere near dvd drives so...

I guess the only other alternitives is to buy another RAD which fill it.

Any suggestions :)?

Thanks,

You could bolt it to the outside of the rear exhaust port. It would involve drilling a couple of holes for the tubing to go through the case but it looks do-able.

Along with many other things i suck at DIY so would rather not start drilling holes into my case. Plus all of my family sucks at DIY so not sure if we would even have a dirll head big enough

It's not to challenging to install a water cooling system but if you're not comfortable with even drilling a hole might I suggest you get someone who is, to give you a hand.

Might save you from a dead PC.

As i said i would rather just stay away from drilling holes in my case - if its me or someone else so :)
Would rather prefer to spend money to get another rad which will fit as its got to be possible to find one what fits a storm scout..

Fair do's.

Why don't you make a card template of the size you can fit in and then have a shuftie about to see what kind of rad would fit

Generally it's not too hard to route tubing through the PCI slots. Alternatively if you have enough space in the front where the drives go you could do this

That's a Lian-Li radiator mounting kit but it works in any case (that's a CM590) and is really easy to do. You fit the kit to the radiator which then allows it to be mounted just like an optical drive. (£7.50)

That's not a bad idea about pci slots.. Would just need more tubing though I might either way!

I'll try and find the mounting kit on net had a quick search; few different results came up though so
Though my Storm Scout has 3 5.25" bays which are empty. There other is converted to a 3.5" which i don't think can be removed so.. Or i could simply remove my dvd drive as well simply i never really use it, so that could make 4 empty bays

Get a rad box and mount it outside the back of the case feeding tubing in through the top or through slots for the PCI cards. Something like this:

Edit, ignore the loop going to the top, it's the one at the back I'm talking about.

So something like
vd3al0.jpg
will do?
All i will need to do is order more tubing.

Would it mater though that the tubing between the pci slots is a little bit (pushed in/squashed) so it manages to fit through

I'd say the above looks good! You might find that some 90 degree barbs on the rad help to put less strain on the tubing.
What size tubing are you using? I would try for 7/16 ID, it's a bit thinner so is more flexible and it doesn't reduce flow too much. Plus, it may just fit through those pci slots, not to sure though, can you measure them?
Another thing to make sure of is that the metal at the PCI area isn't too sharp as to cut the tubing!

I got told from the person i bought the rest from he was using '3/8" ID - 1/2" OD Hose - UV Blue 1m' So i went and bought 2metres of that, probably to much but yer ;)

£9 inc p+p

The pci area didn't seem sharp at all so it should be ok there. (Won't bother measuring the slots unless you want me to considering i've bought the extra tubing)

Also what would work for the 90 degree things then, would have to be like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-028-OK&groupid=962&catid=1529&subcat=1744 *2? Not the cheapest things in the world :P Edit: They wouldn't work as there 1/4 outer thread =/

EDIT: Or wait, would these work http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-059-PM&groupid=962&catid=1529&subcat=1746 :S? Or totally wrong lol

I meant the first of the above. Remove the barbs currently in the rad and replace it with those so that they point downwards. That way the tubing doesn't have to bend back on itself outside the case.
The thread should be fine. If you have this rad ir needs the G1/4 outer thread.

This is how i have mine in a CM590, so if u ignore the bay res, takes up about 4/5 slots.

So if it was just a 120 rad would take up less room. Or on the back works too, try and get hold of a swiftech rad box if you can to make it easier to mount it.

So benefits of these radboxes are what?
Swiftech Rev.2 Radbox Black : MCB-120 doesn't sound worth the £20 anyhow so explain :p

The only real advantage of a rad box is that it draws cool air from outside the case through the fans and across the radiator for better cooling. Without a rad box the fans draw the warm air from inside the case and so the cooling isn't as efficient. Other than that there isn't too much to shout about for rad boxes. Other that they allow the installation of larger rads using only a single fan area, although that doesn't affect you.

Ok thanks, think I will leave rad box now and see how the temps go.

Can't get my brain around this tube stuff lol.
Well on the RAD as it is i got told to use tubing such as
1/2" ID - 3/4" OD XSPC Blue/UV Blue Hose 1m

But if i wanted the 90degrees fitting such as http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-028-OK&groupid=962&catid=1529&subcat=1744
Then what type of tube would i need  ?

Ok, Look at this picture
1266272184-12969-0.jpg

On the right is the G1/4 thread and on the left is the 3/8 id barb.
The G1/4 thread is that part that will screw directly into the radiator, to do this you will need to unscrew the current straight barbs installed in it. The left hand side is the part which the tubing goes over.
The barb you linked to works with 3/8id tubing, if you have 1/2 id tubing, like the blue tubing above, you will need to use these
