CPU WC Rad

Most 1/2 id tubes have a 3/4 od. I don't think I've come across any that are otherwise. You'll only need two of the 90' barbs. I assume the rest of you components already have straight barbs installed as you bought them second hand?

Ok thanks, so just any of the tubing's will do.

Yep two of them, the HEATKILLER water block has got 2 on there, one is straight up the other is at an angle like it should be i guess and the XSPC X2O 450 Pumpstation got 2 going straight up :)

Thanks for the help

Excellent! Looking good. Let us know how it goes! Plus, if you have any questions with putting it together just ask!

Thanks :)

quick one while i think about it:

where to put the pump?
Seems most people put it at bottom of case (If it standing up) though I think all my cables would get in the way such as the 2 power cables for my 4890

so alternitives would be where? On top of a DVD drive maybe? Though not sure how to secure it there

no cheap project ;) for pump, rad, block, water, liquid metal, tubes and 90degree things was like £130, I guess it's better than being new prices hehe - hope it's worth it!

Puttin g the pump high up makes it much harder to prime the loop and fill it. With the pump at the bottom, that problem is solved; pour water in at a high point, watch it fill the loop from the bottom, when you can't get anymore in, start the pump.

If you can't find space for it at the bottom and are testing it in another machine first, you may want to fill the loop in the test machine and then it doesn't matter where the pump goes in the main machine.

Plan was to get everything all set up in the case of my current machine, and just use the molex on another machine.

Anyway for moment i'll better see how you actually fill the pump up as i havn't looked at all!

Dirty :P

Heres my time to make myself look foolish ;) (i should really go find a guide yer...)

So the one on the left on my pic :P? Leading into the black 'tank'

Firstly, that is mighty dirty! I'd recommend cleaning it out with vinegar (white) and then rinsing clean with distilled water!
I'm not entirely sure what your question is! The two barbs are, well barbs, the tubing goes on them. The black cap on the right is the power cable, and that flush cap in the middle is the fill port, you may need a 2p or a screw driver to open it but that's where you put the water into the pump.

Aha oh right ok, and how on earth to clean it though with vinegar and distilled water! Not like i can take it apart and rub it clean :P

Just swirlf the vinegear around it and then put some water in :)? and rinse that around xD

Sorry, i didn't explain very well!
Mix together some white vinegar + distilled water in a 15:85 ratio. (It MUST be white vinegar, the brown stuff will cause damage as it's too impure!)
Get some tubing, connect it to the two barbs to create a closed loop and run the solution through the pump, like you would coolant, for ~2hours. Or until you think it's clean enough. Empty the pump and then run pure distilled water through it to was out any remaining vinegar.
If the other parts you bought second hand look grubby too, just join them in the loop and run the vinegar solution through the whole thing! Just remember to rinse in clean after.
As a side note, if you can't find any distilled water. Pop down to a garage and ask for battery top up water. I buy 5L bottles of the stuff at my local halfords.

Ok thanks

so to do list:
1) buy some White vinegar ;)
2) try get the right ratio (that's gonna be fun!)
3) 1 tube to both barbs on pump
4) power up pump :)

shall I use my 1litre of Nanoxia Stark? I'm guessing that's enough to clean pump out with and then use to fill pump up with ?

Well distilled water would be preferable! I'm not sure what's in the Nanoxia fluid and you don't want the vinegar to react with anything!

Ok thanks

Nah thats stuffs to expensive for using to clean, just go to halfords and get some di-ionized water, usually branded carplan, and use that to do the cleaning with.

Ok thxs :)

got a halfords like 10-20minute cycle from my house so :)

though If it's 5litres I think I would rather try and get a lift down there :p

Indeed!!

I'll check site - they must do smaller than 1litre so :p

tommorow other aim is to actually understand how wc works - all new to how pcs work etc, trying to build up my knowledge

at first I was like water and pc's WTF? Lol

Like I don't see how the pump can make water go around all the tubes either xd

Ok just got it set up on he floor next to me cleaning itself, ill leave it on for a hour and look at it then, think for this i put a little bit to much water in :P but nothing is coming out so!

To empty it i guess its just the same way pretty much as putting it in or?
So power pc down, take the black screw driver part of and have a bucket ready ;)?
