CPU with no cooler?

Hi,

Dumb question alert I had issues with a faulty GPU in my first ever water cooled PC.

I had to empty my loop and by a new GPU, but I want to test the GPU before I take it apart and void the warranty.

My question is my CPU still has the water block on it, so can I turn on the PC on to see if the GPU and PCIE slot works, or will it over heat?
Thanks.

For the purposes of "does the BIOS recognise this CPU?", I would risk it. Briefly.
For "Can I boot to windows, fireup a benchmark and try out my GPU?" Hell no.
Thermal protection is a safety net but its not foolproof.

Buy a cheap air cooler or plumb in your waterloop.
