Hey guys, so I got this new build:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 550.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5200 CL40 Memory
Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Storage: Crucial BX500 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: MSI GAMING TRIO OC GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB Video Card
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000e (2026) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

And I've noticed that when I change game settings or sometimes load into a game that my PC makes a clicking noise:

The example video is me changing the render scaling settings on Monster Hunter Wilds, doesn’t matter if it’s lowering or increasing settings.

I'm unsure what this noise is and I am a little worried, it actually doesn't make the game when playing games (except times when loading into a game) any idea what this could be? I don't want it frying on me, I can’t smell any type of burning. could this be PSU coil, it doesn’t sound like how one normally would? The same clicking can be heard when switching the PC on and Off but only a single click. I plan to RMA to get a replacement but just want to know what’s happening here to avoid it in the future.

Hi, I also bought a new system with similar specs last week, I suspect from the same retailer. I have the exact same PSU and the exact same clicking sound, I was searching online about it and found your post. I saw similar posts on reddit with users having the same, mostly within the last few weeks as well - perhaps there has been a bad batch or something? I am undecided whether to go back to the retailer, I don't really want to have to send the whole PC back... Did you decide to contact them?

Corsair seem to have now acknowledged this issue, see below. It seems there is a new 2025 model of this PSU which I guess is why people are only having the issue recently :

It has come to our attention that in some circumstances with certain load conditions, some users can hear a ticking noise from the newer model RM1000e power supply. While this circumstance is uncommon, through extensive lab-testing and with the help of our community feedback on reddit and customer service teams, we've been able to identify the root cause and future RM1000e power supplies will have this problem addressed. It is important to note that the light "ticking" noise you are hearing is in no way dangerous and has no negative performance implications. The power supply is still functioning 100% correctly from a performance standpoint.

If you currently have an RM1000e, you can keep using your current PSU knowing it is operating within electrical specifications, or if you are uncomfortable with this or annoyed by the noise, you can contact our CS team to discuss a solution more to your liking. We have, occasionally, seen this problem just stop on its own after time on some units and never return, but we want you to be happy with any product you purchase from Corsair.

Again, this is not a reliability or electrical performance issue, and poses no known danger to your PC, and it only occurs under very specific conditions and configurations. But we felt it would be better to err on the side of being overly transparent as soon as we identified the issue, so we can ensure our customers have peace of mind.

Thank you
