Lucky to say I've never had any free play in the steering... yet

The K series headgasket issue was massively overplayed, of course the failure rates were higher than others, no denying it. But then the Fiat Punto was hardly free of failures, far from it infact.

And we're talking about the diesel, so as Simon says irrelevant. Unless you strap a hybrid turbo to the derv - people have done this and caused failures by lifting the head

Its not free play, its due to the steering geometry used.

I wouldn't call his car a repmobile...although maybe you have a different idea of repmobile to most people.
