Right following on from my earlier threads, im really clutching at straws now.
My games are crashing with looping sound, especially BF2. The symptoms are that the sound starts to go crackly, then a few seconds later the game skips and slows, then the sound loops then the game locks up and the sound changes to sort of "buh buh buh buh buh buh, BUH BUH BUH BUH" getting higher and lower each time.
I dont think it can be power as my mate has a cheap PSU and my 8800 works fine in it, so im leaning towards the motherboard.
Is this a symptom of possibly needing a new motherboard?

Please help, its driving me crazy!

that tone is reminicent of over/temp or low fan speed warnings. Check in your bios what all these are set to (most likely under PC health). Refit all coollers and remove all overclocks and also use onboard sound and remove any sound cards. Swap all your memory ou for a stick of something you know to be fine. Do these one at a time till you find problem. My bet would be overheating or undervolting somewhere

Im suffering a similar thing.
Pc is

xeon 3210 2.13ghz at 3.2ghz
DS3 p35
4 x gskill 6400 1gb sticks
water cooled cpu, temps never go above 55c

Replaced psu already, using usb sound devices, z10's and logitech headset.

No problems until i came back from holiday in wales. Playing wow for about an hour and then i get a similar problem, sound stutters game slows down, and everything slows right down. But the pc still responds i can alt tab out into windows an such, but when dragging a window around the screen its laggy as hell. If i re-boot and things cool down a bit it seems ok. I have replaced my aging seasonic s12 which was a 600watter with a bew 700watter and thought all was ok, but again playing wow for just over an hour and it all happens again.

Do you think its the graphics card going belly up? I have set all my overclocks back to stock at the moment and will test again tonite.

Is it possible this could be a sign of a dieing cpu? hope not i lapped mine :( only been running it with a max of 1.4375v through it. never gone above 1.45v when testing for o/c

I had pretty much exactly the same issue except the crackling sound. Turned out to be my RAM which I didnt expect at all.

Memtest is your friend:D

Hey up.

Cheers for the reply.

Should have added the machine has passed 8hours + of the bootable mem test at 3.2ghz.

Left it running when i was called out the other night. :(
