I currently backup my desktop directly to Crashplan Central, but want to put together a solution that everyone in the house can use across multiple devices, as Crashplan is limited to a single device. I also want a more substantial local backup.

It may sound like a simple question, but I'm not sure of the nuances of Crashplan, so does anyone know... if I was to purchase a Drobo 5N, could I backup everything (Desktop, 2x Laptops) to the Drobo via Crashplan Local and then backup the Drobo to Crashplan Central via the integrated app?

Main reason for the query, I'm not sure if there's an issue with the encrypted backup of each device on the Drobo, then being backed up again to CP Central (Cloud).

TIA

I think Crashplan foldersare on the built-in exclusion list, so your plan wouldn't work.

Code:
(?i).*/CrashPlan.*/(?:cache|log|conf|manifest|upgrade)/.*

Thanks for that.

I guess the other option is to perhaps use some other backup application to backup to the Drobo as plain files and then backup that via Crashplan.

Not sure what application though!
