So this isn't intended to be a sexist post, nor is it one of those "I don't mean to offend you... Buuuut.." posts.

Does anybody here that is a regular flyer feel indifferent or less confident with a female pilot behind the controls? I haven't given it much thought before but i learn towards "less confident" subconsciously, probably due to an underlying stigma but not an active thought..

The thought stemmed from this crazy ass pilot in America.. Would you stay on the plane after this horror show?

Everyone goes through the same training - doesn't matter if you're male, female, 18 or 40. If they weren't competent and didn't pass all the exams and practicals to the required standard then they wouldn't be a pilot in the first place. The medical is fairly comprehensive as well.

One of the guys who went through my flying school is a pilot for EasyJet at just 22 and one of the instructors now flies for Eastern at 35. Do you feel uneasy with a younger pilot at the helm? One of my instructors is female and doesn't phase me.

As i did mention in my initial post, i don't actively think that a woman is less suited for the job.. There is maybe a subconscious sexism that is drawn through many years of dealing with women crashing in to my car?

I also have a friend similar age to yours flying Boeing planes for Ryanair, honestly though? Na wouldn't trust him.. he used to be a bad drunk.
