Got a ford focus making a sort of creaking noise when turning left. Anyone got a suggestion as to what it might be (thinking a suspension bush possibly)?

Thanks.

Does the car pull in that direction?

Could be that or something like the ball joint which id imagine is more common (ive known of more ball joints going then bushes)

This happens on my mondeo St200 but is happens when i hard turn to the left and right, Took it to ford to look at its my Outer CV joints gone

£300+ to repair:(

Christ, and to think I moaned about paying £20 for a whole driveshaft when one went on my Rover. Much easier and faster to swap the whole shaft than just the joint!

Aye, Iv been looking online for prices of CV joints and there about £60 a peace for my car rest is Ford labour charges :( As i cant do them myself and tbh i think ill prefer Ford to do them anyway.

Possibly a seized top mount causing the spring to turn in it's seat. Often they make a banging noise as the spring winds up and then lets go when there's anough force to overcome the friction, but they can just make a creaking noise.

Also check steering rack mounting bushes, they can creak as the rack moves within them if they are worn. TBH it would be easiest and much quicker to get someone to sit in car and trun steering wheel whilst you track the noise down.

For what its worth, the noise only happens when moving :/ hence im thinking maybe suspension.

Ok, got a bit confused by earlier comments. Does it make the noise if you bounce the car up and down by pushing down on top of the front wings? If so my first guess would be anti-roll bar bushes.

A quick google shows a possible problem area on 2000-2004 cars. Have a look at this thread.
