Create .ISO's

Hey Guys,

Just got my new Alienware M11X yesterday and playing around with some games. Now this bit of kit does not come with a CD/DVD drive, and my external drive doesnt come until next week.

What i have is many games on CD, which i would like to create image files of then just mount them on my M11X and install them.

So i have in my hand the Supreme Commander DVD, and does anyone know some simple software which i can use on my main rig that can just convert it to a nice .iso which i can then use to install it on my M11

mmm would copying the dvd to image then trying to install the game after mounting the disc get past the protection off the dvd?

to mount a image use http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html I have anyDVD also great program.

PS dont forget that Supreme Commander 2 is out in March :-)

Well luckily in the latest patch Supreme commander got rid of the need for the CD in the drive

so should work hehe.

And hell ya Supreme commander 2 should rule already pre-ordered on Steam :d

not sure , the DVD the game comes on will be protected so on installing the game the setup.exe etc may be looking for the original disc, may or may not not sure I'am going to try the same thing for myself. also yes I'am going to purchase it as well :-)

Pretty sure all authentication and copy protection comes in at the run stage there may be a few exceptions but in general a copied disk or image will usually install fine, I use daemon tools and some games will recognise the disk in the drive if you leave the iso mounted.

What I meant was the game recognises the iso as the disk when it does the disk check.
