So I'm trying to make a new 20gb partition in vista...but it gives me the access denied message? I have UAC turned off btw.

I have also tried using Acronis Disk Director to do this but it just tells me to reboot the computer in order to carry out the action queue, and then it keeps rebooting during the windows load-up and I have to select "boot from last known good config" to get it to boot up.

You don't have any unallocated space on that disk, so you can't just create a new partition. Or are you trying to delete one of those partitions when you get that error?

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

I was just trying to shrink the D: partition in order to create a 20gb unallocated space partition...then was going to create a new partition there.

...but I can't get through step 1. :(

Ah right :) Not sure why its not letting you resize it.
Maybe boot off LiveCD or something similar and try it in there.

livecd?

how? I have a bootable 1gb USB stick btw.

**edit...oh i see okie
