ive been looking around but i dont seem to be able to find a non-buggy program. that will copy your hard-drive (just basic stuff) to a dvd disk.. but i need to be able to boot from the disk, click next a few times :), and then to have everything back to normal..

the reason for this is because i want to go back to Vista really, but i need to be able to get XP running, with updates installed/ settings quickly (re-installing/format process getting really booring)

thanks!

ok ive created a backup image, "realbackup.tib" btw its 4.2GB with maximum compression but how do i put this on DVD, and be able to install it on a formatted HDD.?

the only option i see is create bootable rescue media, but that is like 46mb iso, which doesnt have the backup on it...

Burn the file to a DVD using Nero or similar

Burn the bootable media. Boot your PC from this (you may need to adjust BIOS settings). Once Acronis has loaded swap the boot cd with you dvd that has the image on it, and then follow the restore process.

FYI, Acronis gives the option to split an image into parts so if you go over 4.7/8.4 GB you can burn across a number of DVDs. You can also save the tib file to another HD or portable drive. I have used al these options before with success

Good luck

i managed to get it working by "create a backup" and then selecting the DVD drive as the save location, put a dvd in there and it put both the boot media and the image (which it created on the fly) on it...

thanks anyway!
