If you don't want to use a card Im pretty sure you can buy the iTunes vouchers to verify an account.

there is a guide how to do this on the apple site.

You have to add a zero value item to your cart first iirc

The trick is to try to buy a free app (any free app). It will then prompt you to create an account but wont have payment info in it. Its pretty well documented on the web.

When you get to the "add card type" list, the bottom option in the list is "don't add a card" or similar.

its not there unless you add a zero value item. Its annoyingly difficult to do.

you can create an account if you have a voucher.

I bought a Blu-ray with digital copy the other week and had to create a UK account to unlock it.

usually itunes has a redeem button on their store.
