Creative comments on X-Fi crackling

Apparently all this is on the x-fi's with not the onboard ram. I got a standard x-fi and if i turned comp on and then put speaker cable into back it would just crackle and no sound. If started comp up with it plugged in then works fine. Havent tried it with new x-fi pro

I've the x-fi pro and I still get crackles. I've tried lots of solutions given by other users and by Creative technical support but the only one that works for me is to switch to "Audio Creation Mode" and turn on "Enable bit-matched playback".

The funny thing is the card worked fine on my previous machine running an nforce 2 board.

Here's some troubleshooting tips from the Creative tech. support guy I spoke to:

Please try to update BIOS as well as motherboard chipset driver.
Please insert the soundcard on another PCI slot further away from the graphic card, and make sure it is firmly inserted.
Please disable any onboard sound card if available through BIOS.
I will need you to try the troubleshooting in the link below:

I will also suggest switching to audio creation mode and starting "creative audio console", click the "Bit-matched tab" and click the "Enable Bit-Matched playback" box.

Ray.

It's happening on nforce 4 chipsets and other high end systems...

VIAS latest chipsets are very stable and fast too fyi

It was a reference to the issues Creative had with their cards running outside the PCI specs and the issues it caused with any motherboard on a VIA chipset. Basically Creative don't test anything.
