Never thought I would have to ask about this, but I am kind of at the end really.
Ok, My Recon 3D has the Drive bay add-on with it.
Up until not too long ago, it has been absolutely rock solid, and has performed 100% spot on. I am overly chuffed with it.
Now a short while ago, it did this, and I did eventually solve it and its come back and this time its being a little bit more difficult to sort out.
I have a small handful of various drivers for it, but as you know creative are not the most up to date with their drivers.
I am currently running Windows 8.1 and thats because I have issues with 10 and my keyboard being not the best friends.
I have also just done a Motherboard swap, and it did it on the previous Motherboard ( Sabretooth 990FX R2.0 ) and it is also doing it on this Motherboard ( SuperMicro H8DGI-F ).
I am on the verge of doing a fresh install, however this install is not that old, and it is VERY probable, that I will be going back to the 990FX anyway, and since these issues have come up no matter what the O/S and on previous installs as well as this one, I dont think I will benefit from going that route.
Ok, so what is it doing?
Well putting it simply, it often seems to simply not see the card, it might see the card a little bit or it might see it a lot, and then it thinks that there is nothing plugged into it and sometimes a simple restart will cure it and sometimes not.
I have tried to reinstall the drivers and they have come back to me stating that they cannot find a compatible card, but then they sometimes can.
I have in the past used driver managers, and one such manager let me save the drivers as a small exe and I have used that, even when others have failed, and that has got the card sort of up and running in that it can work, but only through the headphones?
Right now, I do indeed have the soundcard working, the main speakersall work, and the headphones work ( from the back ) and the software is installed and the software does work as it should, however the drive bay add-on does NOT work, there are no lights on it to show the speakers / headphones selection, nor does the volume work ( Im ok through the keyboard though of course )
I havce tried a number of reinstalls and I haved of course made sure that I have cleaned out any chance of any residual drivers and files etcv from sticking around, but I just cannot get it right.
I am thinking that the card is simply on its way out and I have accepted that fate, however the card cost me a fair fortune when I got it, Im sure it was about £160 and I really want this to be something that I am missing so much.
Anyone have any ideas on why it is doing this?
Is it a known issue that is cureable Im thinking?
And please dont anyone say get an Asus or anything... I have Asus cards too, and I may swap them over, but I would rather fix than replace for now.
