creative soundblaster ae-5 electrical noise?

Bit disappointing when I set it to Stereo Direct to get the full 32bit 384000 no sound will work in nearly all my games. 32bit 192000 everything is dandy is that software issues on Creatives side or the games itself you think?

Out of the two games I played today I did get sound on the hp setting at 32 bit 384000. Will test more tomorrow.

Hi, does anyone know why I can hear electrical noise on this card when I mute the sound while gaming?

When muted I can hear it changing pitch when turning my mouse. I removed the molex cable which powers the led and the noise stops.

Any ideas?
I know this thread is a lill old now but I recently bought the AE-5 Pure Edition & wanted to express about my issue after reading this thread as I had the same trouble....Let me start by saying its a pretty loud sound card for sure!! Features are pretty good too.
On with my issues ...After installing the AE-5 & using Front Panel Audio at the front of my case with the AE-5 during game play using headphones I experienced as how Davanius mentioned changing pitch & electrical noise and after unplugging the molex the noise goes away!!

I have somewhat almost isolated the sound but its still there while gaming from the AE-5's Front Panel Audio using headphones.

On the plus side using back of the cards input for headphones I had no such problem there while gaming.....The noises just seemed to be direct at the Molex & AE-5's Front Panel Audio for me here.

My tests...I have tested my motherboards onboard Audio Realtek using Front Panel Audio using headphones while gaming I get no such noises or anything.

After Davanius suggested in the end it was his headphones as I believe that wasn't the case, it was the molex like he suggested after my tests too.

I'm using SoundBlaster Evo's.

Thought this might help.

Oh I forgot...Hello everyone i'm new here too :)

If Molex cable is near front panel connector on card that could bring what ever interference PC's components send into power cabling near signal paths.
Not to mention front panel cabling not being known from EMI protection...
If cable of that Molex is connected to other things power draw of other components causes tiny fluctuations into voltage.
And any longer cable is also antenna for "airborne" interference.

Even human body can do that antenna part:
Touching oscilliscope's probe by finger gives AC frequency received by body.
Also you can make radio with telescopic antenna broken from its base to work by gripping from/touching that remaining stub.

And welcome aboard.

I have a Sony xb950 which is the one producing the issue. I also have Sennheiser hd 558 and 485 which are older but these don't produce the noise.

I know that the Sony's are not high grade at all but they have deep bass which I like for movies and gaming. The Senn's are both better for gaming as the sound stage is much better.

Going to try out the Beyerdynamic DT770 80 Ohm version later today. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The environmental noise is more often quiet.

DT990s combined with this soundcard are insane. I actually don't use my big surround sound speakers anymore.

Thanks, I hope it does helps someone.
I have now since sent Creative an email to the route of this issue with the Molex.
Me & Davanius are not the 1st users of this card to experience this issue...I did come across a few reviews on Amazon saying that same thing about this humming.
But as I said using the back of the card's Headphone port is not an issue & it only happens using the card's Front Panel Audio & the molex power.

Hey Davanius. I have to ask when you heard electrical noise on this card & when you mute the sound while gaming, What part of the card was you using? Was you using Front Panel Audio from the AE-5 of your pc case or did you use the actual port holes on the back of the card?
Please let me know.
