Hi,

I've been looking to get a soundcard after years of onboard sound, I'm on vista x64, how are the drivers these days? I've heard horror stories about creative drivers causing a lot of issues.

Was about to make a similar thread myself....

I installed vista 64 yesterday, newest creative drivers, playing supcom, sound quality is hugely distorted..

Anyone recomend some drivers? or shall I just give up and buy an Auzentech - which as far as I know have better drivers?

I advise a big nono in regards to creative + vista. Too many problems, not just in my experience but from what I have read everywhere! I think you might be better off with a different make such as Auzentech or Asus - which is where I might be heading myself.

Im currently on XP64 and I have tried Vista64 a number of times now and I have never had any kind of Creative issues at all... I have 4GB and have had for over a year now.

I keep going back to XP64 for a fair few reasons, and never has it been the audio?

Anyone know when creative is to launch new range, got me a audigy 2 at mo,but been thinking of moving to vista so may wait for newer creative.

This will sound weird but I have a Creative X-Fi Fatality board and you can actually get a later release of the drivers from Windows Update than you can from Creative directly! It's almost a year more recent.

I got that and it works very well.

got to admit when vista first came out the drivers where crap but they have improved and i'm not having any issues so i'll stay with the card

Have you tried going into the driver controls and turning on the crystaliser thing the X-Fi has. I only have the audigy 2 so I don't know if its the same, but there is a creative audio console thing where I can switch on CMSS, which gives a kind of psuedo 3d-ish sound. I personally turn it off but you might want to try hunting around for that and the crystaliser.
