Creative Z W10 Drivers

I did ask this on Headfi but got no answer ? I will try once I've download it. Could be a day or two !

Yes, I noticed that. Someone seemed to think they'd got it to work a few pages from the end but it's turned into a whingefest on there so gave up trawling it.

Just read this from Headfi X7 thread.

Quick update to let everyone know that a revised driver for the X7 (and X7 LE) for Win 10 will be available next week.

We're shooting for the 11th. This will be a revision of the current Win10 driver that comes with the OS.

You can either download this from Creative.com or it will be pushed via the Win10 updates server.

I installed win 10 last night on a new SSD. The x7 is recognised and a driver installed, no control panel as far as I can see though.

Thanx. Glad it kinda works ! Have you tried using the control panel app via a smart phone ? Is that the only way to change anything until a working control panel.

I'll have a play tonight, messed up the install so will redo it tonight and let you know. I forgot to upgrade before clean installing so it says I'm a pirate or something.

Win 10 drivers now available for the x7. Been running them since Friday, all working well, control panel and app all functional.

yeah ASus being really slow with drivers for the dgx and dsx too holding up builds for us here

Installed Windows 10 on my main PC today (upgrade, activate, then wipe and install) and found a couple of issues with the Creative Z W10 driver that I thought I'd share to try to save someone the head scratching I've been having.

Control Panel takes ages to open. By ages, I mean up to 5 minutes. This happens if I have any other sound outputs on my system. In my case, my motherboard has onboard sound (disabled in BIOS) and both my AMD GPUs show up as sound output devices. I tried disabling them in Windows Control Panel > Sound, but this didn't work. I had to go into Windows Device Manager and disable them there. Now the Control Panel happily opens in a second.

Control Panel breaks ULPS. ULPS is where an inactive AMD goes to sleep, with the fan shutting off and the GPU showing as 0Mhz clock and memory speed. In my case, my second GPU should be asleep all the time unless I'm in a full-screen game. I've found with the Creative Control Panel open, my second GPU wakes up and goes into normal idle speeds. If I close the Control Panel, it stays awake until I right click on the Control Panel icon in the system tray and close it from there, then the GPU goes back to sleep.

I'm going to try to feed this stuff back to Creative, but just thought I'd put it here too in case it helps someone in the same situation.
