Credi reports

Im just looking for some advice today on obtaining a credit report.

Ive had http://www.experian.co.uk reccomended to me by some of my friends, im just wondering if anyone else has used them, or could suggest an alternative if this one isnt so good.

Also, has anyone here ever obtained a credit report about themselves?. I know ive been awful with money and i dread to think who i might owe money too. If i get this report do all these places suddenly become aware of my location and demand money. Or does it just show me what i owe to whom?.

Where not talking thousands here but i want a report that will help me tackle this one step at a time. Not a report that will bring down the fury or ever creditor ive eve associated with.

There are only 3 credit report agencies. Experian, Equifax and TransUnion

Therefore yes, Experian is as good as it gets really. Avoid any other website apart from the 3 above agencies.

Remember that you DO NOT NEED TO BUY their credit reports. You are entitled to a free credit report from each agency for £2 (covers p&p). Just look for the relevant form on their website (or check out the moneysupermarket forums) on details how to order your report. It is worth getting the report from all three agencies and cross-referencing what data they have on you (making sure that you report back any inconsistencies).

When you ask for your credit report it does not affect your score at all. Only when 3rd parties do it does.

EDIT: The fact that you will ask for a copy of your report does not alert ANY creditor or does anything at all. You are entitled to it and no one will know that you got it (apart from the agency). The agencies DO NOT inform creditors or anyone about you asking for your report. The only thing that will show up on your report is if a 3rd party asks for it (when you get into some credit agreement for example and they do a credit check), that will show as 'someone' having pulled your report, but no identifying details. Feel free to get your report without worrying about people tracking you down!
