I'd typically agree but I think a key thing here is behaviour change. People should be keeping on top of their finances/Excel forecasting continually. Forgetting shouldn't ever be an option.

I agree you shouldn't forget but I'd say that if you're on top of your finances and budgeted accordingly you'll always have the money in your current account ready to pay off a CC in full so the best solution is to have the DD setup as it is guaranteed to be paid. Maybe it's not that you forget but that you end up for some reason unable to make the payment physically yourself.
