Do they mean anything?! :D

I used to have a tatty file with plenty of defaults and a few CCJ's from some reckless credit card abuse when younger :)

Haven't tried to apply for credit in years because of it, however I note today my credit score is 969/1000 and experian think thats excellent - should I take this with a pinch of salt?! :)

Im not looking for more credit, rather more curious, as when me and the mrs move her mortgage into both our names later this year :)

I think after 5 or 6 years your credit report cleans itself up if you haven't abused it!

Yup - I still have an unsettled CCJ due to go next year and a satisfied one that is staying till 2016!

But if experian are rating me 969/1000 does that make it ok or is it marketing rubbish by them?! :D

I think Experian pull random numbers out of their arse. My last credit score from them (admittedly a couple of years ago) was 999, which I'm pretty sure is impossible.

Id ignore the score completely. Most companies will not touch you with a bargepole if you have a CCJ. It will be removed after 6 years from the day it is settled.

Each financial institute will assess you in their own way, including affordability assessments using variables Experian do not have.

Experian is more useful to ensure the records are correct and you do not have any bad marks against you

The score is meaningless. Every company that would be in the market to lend you money will have their own criteria that you will have to meet. An active CCJ will disqualify you from pretty much everything in the current financial climate unless it's one of those debt consolidation companies that only deals with people who are in a mess. The interest rates you will get charged will be the highest.

I am blacklisted at experion because they stole £7 from me by lying about a credit report being free. I was meant to cancel it or it auto renews, so i sent them an email asking for my money back and called them up. But the dirty thieves would not return the money. So i sent them a nasty email explaining how it summarises the problems of todays economy when you get ripped off by the credit report company. They also have me down as on the electoral role for councils that i have signed up for. I tried to get that removed and they would not remove it, i accused them of falsify documents. Now i can't get credit.

Lol :D

Well i had to cancel it because they would continue stealing £7 from me. The emails were all done in such a way to trick people in to thinking it was free. Of course you give your card details because that is how they authenticate your identity and retrieve your credit report. It was very well done, they had a seperate domain set up called freecreditreport.com and then when i got emails from this domain i thought it was spam, but it was actually experian telling me that i have signed up for a rolling monthly contract. It was class A fraud if you ask me. why would anyone need a monthly subscription anyway, what a pointless product. You go in and see your report takes 5 mins and then you see why you can't get credit and thats it, no need to see it again.

screw experian i don't want credit anyway, they can burn in a fire for all i care :D

Why would anyone pay money to see their credit report? Usually people have no money that is why they need credit so why would they sign up for a monthly payment plan with a credit report company if they need money?

When you are getting a mortgage it's very useful to ensure everything is accurate. You would be surprised at the mistakes that can exist.

You can't even get anything changed at the credit report company anyway, you phone the other company who made a mistake at advised by the credit report company and they send you back to the credit report company. The circle of death. It is a raquet to be honest. There is like 2 credit report companies and they pretty much dictate the availability of credit for the entire nation at a whim.

Im currently paying £15 a month for this for the above reason. I have about 6k debt that I am paying off very fast (within a few months as I use to be a student and am now working) and I am using the report to monitor the changes in my credit status between now and the summer. Possibly a waste of £15 but it does mean I can keep an eye on my wifes catalog spending (in my name).

Come June I hope to see a good rise in my score and have a good few thousand saved in the bank to get a morgage in the scond half of the year.

A CCJ is removed from your Credit Record 6 years after JUDGEMENT, whether it is settled or not.

You authorised and accepted an agreement for a monthly payment to be made unless you cancelled - you didnt cancel, the agreement continued.

I very much doubt you are blacklisted at all, that sounds like utter tripe.

You say they falsified documents showing you on the electoral role that you admit you signed up to (as all adults do in the UK) - they dont need your permission to access this and didnt falsify anything to obtain it as the councils give the info out.

 Strange

This.

I have plenty enough for a deposit on a house but struggling to get a mortgage at the moment due to a hic-up on my credit report from 2007 but started in 2008.

The case on this hic-up as been going on 7 months now so I have been signed up with creditexpert for 6 months now. Really helpful, but should hopefully be able to cancel the subscription later this month. Will save £16 a month once done.

I was tricked and at no time was i made aware that i was signing up for a monthly rolling contract that required cancelling. When it happened i looked in to it and there was 1000s of people who were also tricked, there was even a post on moneysavingexpert warning people about the fraud.

I have never registered to vote in my life. That is why i was surprised to see it on the credit report. So they advised phone the council. So i called the council and they confirmed that i am not registered so i called them back up and they said they would look in to it. Then they call me back like two weeks later telling me that they are not going to remove it. This is when i accused them of falsifying document and advised them that it is a crime and that they are engaged in fraudulent activity.
