Todays one…..I need a new mouse mat. It’s going too cost £15 but I’ve spent 3 days looking at options, colours, brands and then close the browser again and think I’ll come back to it.

My new desk? Took 4 months of deciding to get one or not
New razor because my old electric one is a bit blunt and pulling hairs….still out for a decision.
It’s the same with most things, clothes are even worse!

When I do, finally, buy something it’s not really a pleasure, it’s more relief, and then buyers remorse! Urgh. Even my wife gets peeved off at me though that’s most likely because she has no interest in the mouse mat and doesn’t want to look at reviews of them :D

I’m fortunate enough to be able to buy things when I need them, I just get this crippling indecisiveness about it all. What if it’s wrong? I don’t like it? It’s not a good brand? Billy from Salisbury only gave it 4 stars instead of 5??

It’s annoying as heck! Anyway, anymore recommendations about large mousepads to drive me nuts for another few days.

I agree, it's horrible. Too much choice, and too many places selling the exact same thing with a different brand sticker on it, and all at wildly different prices.

Want a cheap bit of electronics from Amazon or ebay? Choose between these wonderful brands:

Foohan
Guido
Seekan
Hiun
Greebi
Yensh
Telesin
Omoton
Ustine
Gritin
Toneof
Atumtek

..and hundreds more!

Not to mention deals, coupon codes, cashback sites, cashback offers on cards etc etc

Everything is ridiculous

I wish I was born and lived most of my life before the internet. Imagine just only going to the one shop near you that sells just one version of the thing you want and you buy that in person and it's done. Bliss.

That's normal. At least it is around here.

I tend to only get it on expensive purchases, that I know need to last a good few years.

If I was overthinking mouse mats, I’d probably see someone :D

Yep, just as bad although I probably enjoy the research bit depending on what it is. Buyers remorse, I feel you on this.

For mouse mats, I just use a dark grey felt mat that covers a decent portion of my desk, £15 off Amazon iirc.

It was! Need an electric thing…Dixons or curry’s. Both next to each other in town :D

Think of all the research I’d have to do in order to find someone!

I think, maybe, it’s because I’ve always been careful with cash and don’t want to waste money. If I buy something that’s crap it’s money I could have saved for a rainy day. I don’t think I’ve ever adjusted to having a good amount of disposable income. Probably because I remember the call from the bank years ago asking which direct debit to not pay, mortgage or gas bill…..

What's worse is that you'll find the thing you want and then read a bad review and it really puts the wind up you.
These feels are so real.

We've managed to make do until now but could really do with a second car. Unfortunately I have big trouble letting perfect get in the way of good, especially as it, in no particular order:

1. is one of the larger purchasing decisions.
2. is a financial liability (depreciating asset, with ongoing variable costs)
3. has safety/risk to life implications
4. is a "cost" event to change one's mind.

The paradox of choice. I know it well, took me 6 months to decide what camera to buy. I also wanted a new mouse mat but gave up after being overwhelmed with options and couldn’t decide.

It comes into play on dating apps as well.

Having so much choice is overwhelming and makes decision making hard.
With the amount of choice, surely this comes under a form of anxiety?

I struggle myself in the same area's, I find it difficult choosing a chocolate bar at a petrol station because there is over 40 different options.

still rocking a massive overclockers branded desk pad from about 5 years ago, personally i love the full desk coverage, its basic in design so nothing to fall out of love with and its worked great, slight fading is about the only ware on it that is noticeable.

I struggle with indecision, and my partner suggests that I roll a die if I have two choices and can't decide between them. While I might not be as indecisive about mouse mats, I often experience decision paralysis with other purchases.

Yep I can often take ages over purchases.
Sometimes for things that cost relatively small amounts of money.

I'd been wanting an nvme drive for months. Finally bought one a couple of weeks ago.
