"Critical hard disk temperature"

Just installed HD Tune to run some benches, as my vertex 60gb 2E, win7 system seems to be grinding to a halt during use and during boot times. So, whilst HD Tune is running, I'm seeing temperature spikes of 80 degrees, up from 1. Any ideas what's causing this, what it means? The reading seems so ridiculous it's hard to believe.

SSD's don't get even warm so a false reading i would say.

I dont even get a temperature reported for my SSD :/
But yea, they don't heat up.
