My HP Micro server died, so I am putting together a small build, which will be used for NAS, Media Streaming and also hosting a VoIP server. Also I will be doing a bit of game hosting. I will be using 4 x 2TB drives.

First of compatibility check please. Second of all is this machine a bit of overkill, especially is the PSU to high because this will be running 24/7 and I don't want it to be expensive to run.

Parts:

It adds upto about £430 which is around my budget for the project.

Thanks,

James

The mobo wont fit in that case, it requires a mATX board.
And the Prodigy requires mITX.

Sorry changed chase and forgot needed to change board to fit in it. Thanks for the tip of. Post updated.

The main concern is my spec a little overkill.

James

Micro-ATX will not fit in the case, you need Mini-ITX like the one that I or IdleMan suggested... either that or change the case again :)

miniITX not mATX. :p The Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe is a beautiful little board. I would love to get one and a Prodigy.

Why that hideous PSU btw?

Corsair 500W is nice PSU. :)

These would be my choices for PSU, I just got the Antec 400W myself and really happy with it. It isn't modular but has just the right amount of cables and is so easy to cable manage.

Oh, you might need a molex to sata adapter depending on how the hard drives are installed...most psu's seem to have 3 sata connectors per chain, think some have 4 though.

This + your Xeon. Included a modular Psu, but you could go with any of the Psu`s listed by BrianB.

Time to order soon I think. Thanks Idleman for your basket. After building I just have to get used to Windows Server 2012 Datacentre edition, looks a little different to 2008. Well at least I get it for free!
