My current system is a 2500k at 4.3Ghz but I've got the itch to buy a new system and keep the 2500k for test/development work.

I'll keep my Palit GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 4Tb WD black and Samsung 40KU6400 but everything else will be new. I don't play any games at all, I mainly just browse the web, do office type stuff, a bit of media etc. but I do tend to do a hundred things at once and I hate slowdowns.

I'm aiming for something as silent as possible so with that in mind how does the following look?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £887.59
(includes shipping: £14.70)

I don't see RAM listed.

That will be fine. I suggest swapping the cooler for a Noctua such as an NH-u14S. They are so much easier to mount. There are countless youtube reviews that curse the mounting system on Be Quiet! coolers. Noctua's is idiot proof, stress free, quick, excellent, and easy. I'd also argue that the coolers are better quality, if perhaps less attractive.

Is the only issue with the be quiet! Dark Rock 3 that it's difficult to mount? Is the Noctua a better/quieter cooler or is it just easier to mount?

I appreciate you have the upgrade itch, but is your current system struggling?

Not really but I need my current PC for other purposes. I need to be able to install stuff, mess it up, format and repeat. I don't really want to do this on my main PC.

Jeez, that ram!!! For general productivity and web browsing, close to £200 on ram sounds like huge overkill. Is there a specific need for it, as in rendering videos, or running VMs?

I do run quite a few VMs for testing and development purposes, in all honesty I might end up with 32gb as I find that my current system struggled with 16gb.

It doesn't necessarily perform any better nor is it quieter but the build quality is superior as is the quality of the fan and the expected lifespan. Also Noctua coolers have a 6 year warranty, but in my experience if you write them a polite email they'll even support you after that.

They swapped a 7 year old (very out of warranty) fan for me once that I had no receipt for. Sent me a new one for free. They are a solid AF company and their support is second to none. Also they respond to emails within 1 hour during business hours.

Honestly if you've never experienced the horror of trying to mount a cooler with a poorly designed mount, you really don't know how bad it can be. The Noctua cooler is worth it for the easy mount alone.

Watch an installation of a Be Quiet cooler and a Noctua cooler on youtube and you'll see what I mean.

The stock wraith cooler would be fine to use. No need for an expensive aftermarket job if you are just web browsing etc. At least give it a whirl before spending extra.

There are cheaper 3000MHz kits which would be more than fine for your useage.

A SATA SSD such as the SK Hynix SL308 is almost half the price of the 960 EVO. You probably won't notice any difference unless you are moving large files around. Boot times etc will be very similar.

What's the wraith cooler like for sound volume? I'm really wanting my new system to be as quiet as possible.

I don't own a Ryzen cpu myself but if you are web browsing and doing office related stuff then the cpu isn't going to be under heavy load. I built an Intel pc for my folks a while back for the same sort of situation and that is quiet with a stock Intel cooler. You might as well give it a try first off before spending £60 on a cooler that you might not need.
