Hi guys.

I just sold my 7 year old i7-2600k build which did me very well indeed. Going to be building my next build in Thailand based on a Ryzen-1700.

So pleased than Intel finally have a bit of competition after so many years.

I would love to buy from OCUK, but obviously will need to use a Thai retailer and have gone with www.invadeit.co.th

If OCUK can ship to Thailand, please let me know and I will order from them instead!

This build will be used for 1080p gaming (Fortnite, Civ6, ETS2, PUBG) and general life errands. I would be very, very happy to hear any comments or feedback about this build because it has been so long since my last one. I would like to have the option of light overclocking. I am aware that 16Gb would give better future proofing but considering current RAM prices, will take just 8Gb just now with intention of adding more later. Internet will come via ethernet connection to router.

Have I missed anything or chosen a duff component? Also what exactly is the 1700X?

Ditch the biostar board right away there turd, opt for a gigabyte/asus. Ryzen needs fast ram really so need to be looking at 2993 speed at minium to get most from a ryzen chip

I used to work with pc parts and manufactires/returns trust me avoid biostar service and build is turd.

With intel ram speed isn't as important, Ryzen chips do better with quicker ram. See other threads here it's always case.

The msi board picked is a decent choice. Out of curiosity are you not coming back to UK? Ive no idea on prices but won't it be more expensive over there

That power supply is junk as well. Get something decent like a Bitfenix Formula. If you want Corsair then the CX (Grey label) is the cheapest I would go.

I'd get faster RAM, have a look at some reviews with Ryzen + fast memory; makes a noticeable difference. Also, I'd swap the M.2 sata drive for an NVME M.2 drive instead, they are much faster., If you can't afford it, then I'd say get a 2.5" SATA drive instead, leaving your M.2 open for a future upgrade to NVME.
