For some reason my 2nd R9 280x has stopped working. Its still detected but isnt actually doing anything and some of the sensor information is mission from GPU-Z. I'm running windows 8.1 I've tried beta drivers and current drivers.

any ideas?

Have you disabled ULPS via afterburner? As with ULPS running not all of the sensors will work on the second card.

No not tried that, however the card isn't contributing anything for example in ARMA 3 I don't see any boost in performance with crossfire enabled.

Also just noticed for one car it comes up with:
Memory type GDDR5 (Hynix) Bus Width 384 bit Bandwidth 307.2GB/s

The 2nd card that isnt functioning correctly
Memory type GDDR5 (Autodetected) Bus Width 32 Bit Bandwidth 25.6 GB/s

Have you checked within CCC to see if crossfire is enabled? What drivers are you using?

Tbh matt i doubt very much you'd see any gain in Arma 3 even with crossfire enabled, the game is very cpu dependant.

Eg, my cousin has 7970s in crossfire and a FX8350, yet i regularly get much better fps than him on my system.

Bobie the thing i can suggest is make sure you run the game maxxed out, fullscreen, AA etc, try playing with the res scale to put more stress on the gpus (if both are being showm in AB).

The game is being run maxed out everything on ultra getting a solid 30-40 fps but the 2nd card isnt doing anything looking at ARMA3 bench marks online I should be in the 60 fps region.

Running on the suspect card just now and its fine GPU-Z reads just as it does for the other card so I dont think there is anything actually wrong with the card just cant seem to get them to run in crossfire

Unigine Heaven 4.0
FPS 116.1
Score 2925
min fps 27.0
max fps 213.2

Just to clarify my full spec:
AMD FX 8350
Asus crosshair formula Z
2 x Asus R9 280x DirectCUII TOP 3072MB
Avexir 2x4GB 2133MHz
SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W

What settings did you use in Unigine? Its looking like you're massively cpu bottlenecked in ARMA if im honest.

Ultra with everything else disabled or off. I know ARMA3 is heavily CPU reliant but didnt think it would be such a massive bottle neck.

Have a read of this thread. Come back to me with statistics, details and overlays after a run through of Unigine Extreme HD preset. Make sure you run full screen as well as crossfire only works in full screen mode. Tell me about your gpu usage when you come back.

Ok Unigine Extreme preset:
FPS 81.4
Score 2050

Seeing the Crossfire logo, GPU1 and GPU2 hitting 97-98%
CPU1,2,3,4,5,6 range from 20%-60% CPU1 hitting 83% at one point CPU7,8 hardly used 0-18%

A quick run around in ARMA GPU1,2 hover around 40-50% briefly hitting 70%
CPU never really getting above 60% apart from the occasional spike.

It's just arma 3 pal, it'll only use 2 cores of your cpu afaik which is why your usage looks low, and with the fx range having quite low performance per core, you'll suffer, your only option is to overclock your cpu as much as possible.

This should help increase your fps and gpu usage, although by how much, I can't say.

Yup had a trawl through the ARMA forums and there are a lot of complaints about poor optimization, I wrongly assumed that if the cpu was a problem I'd be seeing 1-2 cores sitting at near 100% usage. Had a good play around with the settings and got some strange results for example dropping AA for 8x to 4x saw a drop in fps. I'll work my way through some of the tweaking guides and see how I get on. Single player is still playable on ultra nut expected more than 30-40fps.

Thanks for the help guys.
