crossfire 6970 no video and gpu 100% on 1 card

i just been given a his hd6970 to crossfire with my msi hd6970

my problem is when i turn crossfire on it crashes to blue screen ,so i tried to boot with the his on its own and cant get no display fan spins like normal .
i booted with both msi as video out and in gpu-z everything is the same on both cards apart from gpu load 100% on the his card

is the his card ****ed?

i can also change settings in msi as normal with both cards just the his gpu usage never changes from 100%

any help would be lovly

If you can't get any display on the new card on it's own, then I would assume it's faulty. Especially if it's crashing your system when you try running it in crossfire.

any way to try an fix it ?not bothered if it totally breaks as it wont work as it is now anyway

Won't it still be under warranty if you have the necessary documentation?

Doesn't the person who gave it to you have a receipt or would they deal with a warranty claim?

Did they give it to you because they knew it's faulty?

he said he couldnt get it working said it showed up in system fine so thought id have a try ...he bought it of ebay
