Hi guys,

I've got a fairly old rig now (completely skint!) and I'm tempted to crossfire the existing card, specs below:

Phenom II x6 1055T @ 4.2ghz - Asus RoG 890FX - 8GB XMS3 - HIS Radeon 6970 2GB - Samsung 840 Pro 128gb - XFX Modular 750W

Would I notice a decent performance leap moving from a single to a crossfire setup? Never tried one before, the card by itself is powerful and will run assassin's creed unity at 30fps on Good settings, but I want a bit more oomph.

Bang for buck would I be better investing in a new card totally or would crossfired 6970's be pretty strong?

Also would my XFX 750 support 2 of these cards?

Cheers!

Jamie

I went from a single 6950 (with unlocked shaders so basically a 6970) and managed to pick up a second for £45 from a certain well know auction site and the difference is definitely noticable. Benchmarks have all improved with very good scaling and games I can now turn up the AA and settings more. I'm using a basic 700w psu and it's been fine for mine.

Yeah if you can pick one up cheap I'd say it's worth a go. Mixing brands isn't a problem, mine are a Sapphire Toxic 6950 with unlocked shaders and a standard MSI 6950. Both running at different clocks and they work fine. Also worth noting that you can crossfire a 6950 with a 6970 which may increase your options of finding one cheap while still being a decent upgrade.
