whenever i play crysis 3 either on single card or crossfire the game is very stuttery, even when afterburner is registering between 70-110fps. doesnt matter if i choose highest settings or the very lowest exact same scenario.

cards in question are powercolor 280x in crossfire with a 4670k clocked at 4.4. worst part is my sons amd 6300 and 7850 plays the games 100% smoother, both on the latest 14.4 whql drivers

Have you got frame pacing enabled in CCC? If not, enable it.

You can also try the following to improve smoothness, assuming frame pacing is enabled.

1. Use vsync
2. Limit fps to 60, or whatever figure you want. Try to ensure its an fps you can maintain more often than not.
3. You could try altering the flip queue size via RadeonPro.

Crysis 3 works perfectly smoothly for me on 290 crossfire on 14.4 WHQL.

i never used vsync even on my tv as i found it dipped quite low. i shall check frame pacing in a min see if thats enabled. i dont have flip queue whatever as i dont have radeonpro installled. i know its not the cards as i get constant 99%usage in valley bench, bf4 etc etc

Vsync should work fine so long as your fps stays around 45 or higher. I use it and sometimes dip below 60 without issue.

u mean in crysis 3, doesnt matter if i choose the max settings or the very lowest i still get the exact same problem. quickly turn around and fps can drop from say 90 down to 15 then back up. i shoot someone or an explosion and same thing happens again. really frustrating now seems every time i try to play a new game i have to sit for days with endless amounts of problems before they possibly work properly

Try disabling crossfire via CCC and see if it still exhibits the same behaviour.

i couldnt tell you as i never played it before only installed it a week or so ago if that, my son played it for about 15 mins but he doesnt know if it was like that or no.

Try 13.12 WHQL and see if its better.

Might be worth trying to repair the game files via origin as well.

i was actually going to delete the game then re install it but i dont think i will have enough time to download it before gy comes at 6 tonight tho.

am i right in thinking that bf4 and crysis 3 are 2 of the most demanding pc games at the moment

Just tried it with 14.4 and it works fine. Smooth as you like with xfire 7970.

Not sure what's going on here, but I'd get a clock on that cpu to start with.

ED: ^ That probably DOES have something to do with it.

Clean uninstall with DDU and maybe Matt can walk you through disabling driver certification etc?

No need to reinstall initially, though it might be worth a try eventually. Repair files should do for now though.

Crysis 3 is very demanding. BF4 not so much.
