Crossfire GPU's only getting 40-60% Usage on certain games?

Hi Guys,
Just setup my crossfire and has been going brilliantly on most games but I just loaded up Borderlands 2 which really is not demanding. Brought up the OSD and my GPU's are only getting 40-60% Usage with 80-100FPS in big battles when it is very hectic. I am using a 144Hz monitor so going crossfire was mainly for getting more frames out of my games.

Another thing is when I am out of hectic situations the usage goes right back upto 80-99% usage achieving 200-300FPS?

Just make sure it's off in the game.

It looks really good but takes up lots of CPU cycles. If the CPU is bottlenecked at those points it might explain why the fps drops to 80-100.

Though to be fair as a minimum that's not too bad. I doubt you could ever guarantee a minimum of 144fps and V-sync it.

well if he is running physx on anything but low using the cpu he wont get 80-100 fps thats for sure. Not even if he had an intel Extreme under the hood. Borderlands 2 has always been a bit of a problem child. Have you tried a different driver?

Sorry to say it but It could be your cpu bottlenecking your cards.

I had to change from a 3570k @ 4.7 to a 3770k @ 4.7 to get good xfire usage :) i found i most noticable in bf3. My threads on here somewhere with all the answers/ usage graphs etc

This is true, you will never keep solid 144fps in latest games. CPU and GPU's just not powerful enough for that. Sure you can lower settings and aim for that.

What matter's is does the gameplay feel smooth?

Not so worried about keeping a solid 144fps, I find 100fps smooth enough but when it drops down to 60fps or below it does my head in!

This, this and undeniably, this.

I don't want to believe it, my heart sunk once I read these replies. Only built this PC (first PC) in Jan this year, not sure if to try and return my CPU to Amazon or sell it and put the rest of the money towards an i7. Being a noob to all this I guess we all have to make mistakes to learn! :(
Pointless me sticking to an i5 as I have just bought this new GPU and it would mean I could get the same performance from a single GPU heavily OC.

Aye its annoying ill grant you. If you had one gpu you'd be fine, but once you add a second in you need the extra threads that an i7 offers. Sell the 3570k for £125ish and buy an i7 3770k.
