Hey Guys,

In the new year I'm hoping to upgrade my graphics card.

My current card X1950XT is a top performer but my brother's 7800GS is sluggish and looking to do the good thing and give him my old one :)

I was wondering does anyone know much on the new ATI HD 3800 Series

I'm not really a fan of Nvidia, never have been since I bought a 5200 GeForce, died after a month of having it. Bought a replacement and died 3 weeks after warranty and Nvidia was the reason I had to buy a new motherboard because it managed to kill my old old AS Rock motherboard.

I want to stay with ATI and are there 3800's worth a shout. Can you buy them yet? If so where?

Also will be SLI motherboard run them as Crossfire I'm not very clued up on this dual graphics card business.

Appreciate help,

Thanks :p

SLI won't run in Crossfire mode.

NVidia has by far the best card out at the moment, I know you're not an NVidia fan, but the 8800gt is undeniably the better buy.

I would be tempted to go back to Nvidia especially since I have noticed a clear decline in ATI since AMD took them over.

The 8800 gt is a better performer than the 3870xt but tbh for the money the 3870 is a really nice card. I don't think you will be disappointed having any of these cards.

Also if you are looking to go for nVidia then the new GTS revision is out shortly so you could wait for that, though the price may be bit higher than what you're intending to spend.
