Whats the deal with crossfire now then? is it the same as it was, with a master and a slave card? or are they doing it differently?

have a 2900 currently and assuming that it is master/slave set up mine would be a slave? would it match with any master card i.e. xt / xtx /whatever else or would i need to match, what about if the master is a 2950 or whatever would that work? smaller cores? (obviously these arent out yet!)

or assuming that you just get two the same? (done away with master/slave?) i could just get another 2900, but could i match with newer released versions (mensioned above?)

i notice the 2900 has two bridges but comes with only one connector, do you need both connecting? (one from the second card?) or do you just plug one in!?

hope all that makes sense lol
thanks

ahhh so they do away with the external two - one thing aswell then, does that mean ya can have 4 monitors in crossfire?

has anyone crossfired the 2900's then?

would ya have to get the same cards or could you mix em with the new (not yet released cards!?)

1. Yes
2. Yes, and it outperforms 8800GTX SLI somewhat often, and 8800GTS SLI almost all the time
3. Only two of the same

timmy1988: You need to connect both cables. Each 2900XT comes with a single cable, so once you have two - you've got the two you need ;)

You can have 4 monitors in Crossfire yes, but not for gaming.

Any brands of 2900's can be paired in crossfire, as long as they both 2900's.
