I have two 4800x2 setup for crossfire however there is no crossfire selection checkbox in the catalyst software>

There are two and sometimes three red lights on the second card and im using a thermaltake 1500 toughpower power supply... I have all the latest drivers im pretty sure and both cards are being watercooled and are selectable in smartdoctor for monitoring...

1 more thing..... the ram does not show up with a reading on both cards in smartdoctor???

I would like to activate crossfire, both cards are correctly seated and are drawing power off separate rails....

is there a simple solution to this????

To get CrossFire working, I had to insert one card first, boot into Windows & set everything up. Then inserting the second card worked.

Thats gonna be awkward but ill find a way... Im on a striker 2 extreme... everything is watercooled and its all such a snug fit... The cards are both setup together on the same loop adjacent to one another, unplugging one will mean trying to bend the fittings slightly..
just a thought but is there a way to disable one in bios??

Your 100 percent right, my mistake.... its a rampage extreme. I have just removed one card and everything is the same... shall i do a complete software and driver reinstall?

What a shame, you denied me the opportunity to use "Epic Fail"

On a serious note, now you have removed one card and booted up, try putting the second in again.

Who built the system?

i built the system... explain epic fail please????
just a brief note that i dont have service pack 1 vista neither the dot net framework???
Reading through the amd section it states that the framework is crucial for catalyst???
downloading both now... Also since its a fresh build there should be no need for a driver uninstall since the only drivers installed were compatible anyway ... is this correct???
Will reboot after downlaods have finished

I think the Framework version required is included in Vista now but I'm not 100% sure about that. I don't think the control centre would load if you didn't have it though.

Writing over the top is not a good idea really... but from what Boogle said:

Don't uninstall or install from a single card with drivers, just put the second card in!

If you had 2x ATI 4870s and an SLI motherboard it wouldn't have been compatible and met the criteria for "Epic Fail", it is just a silly Internet phrase for when someone does something dumb.

OMG glad i didnt qualify for that although i should really know the name of my board...

The fact that i have two builds probably helps me save face though..
Why would there not be a setting for crossfire though???? even if i had one card doesnt the fact that theres two gpus on it mean its crossfire?? and should i still have the functionality to disable one of the gpus on the chip???

Restarted after removing card and card now replaced but still no option for crossfire in the settings????

note there are two red leds on the second card

d13, d15

Any suggestions??

I have a d13, d14, and d15 error???? how is this possible? an 8 pin , 6 pin and temperature error??? Justed tested and reseated everything and all is ok connection wise...

Just imagine that feeling of epic failness, you set everything up on the wrong chipset :p I think I would just go die in a corner espeically if it was all H20.

You said you have a D13 and a D15, D15 could come as a result of D13, is the fan really loud on it?

Try swapping the 8 pins of the cards, if the cards leds turn off and the other on there's something PSU related. If not, try swap the cards, if the card now works but the other one doesnt i would suspect the mobo slots, if not then try each individually.

This all makes sense but before i do... can you explain why i am able to monitor, adjust and select etc both cards in the catalyst software????

yes lights are on all the time sometimes 2 sometimes 3??? everything is plugged in correctly.... Thermaltake toughpower 1200....

ive unplugged the primary adaptor and exactly the same three lights are on????

Does this mean that its the power supply or perhaps the cables??

Both cards are now unplugged and both have three red lights on them so ive plugged the original primary display connector cables into the card that originally wouldnt work and the red lights are still there and there is no display...

This means that it is either the motherboard slot?? or the actual card.....?

What next to try??? this is a watercool setup so it would be difficult to test the primary 'working ' card in the second slot due to the way its all connected and setup in the loop although i will attempt this if there is no other solution.
