Crossfire?

Just a quickie....

Can you crossfire 2 cards of the same model but different manufacturers?
I.E, say a MSI 290x and a Asus 290x..... Or a Sapphire 280x and a Gigabyte 280x.

Could you crossfire a 290x with a 280x? (290x slow down to 280x speed?)

You can certainly mix cards from different vendors, ie a gigabyte and an asus. The second part im not so sure on tbh.

You cannot crossfire a 290X and a 280X. However you can crossfire a 280X with another 280X, a 7970 or a 7950 and even a 7870XT (Tahiti core) though the latter is not advisable.

Just remember VRAM doesn't stack so if you have one 1GB card with a 2GB card you only get 1GB.
