Watching peter Crouch I am becoming more and more annoyed by woeful performances. I know he is on his own up front but especially today -

Falls over easily

Gets easily pushed over

Takes an extra touch and loses the ball

Gets free headers straight to the keeper or over the bar

Wins the first ball then easily dis-possessed

Ok has a decent flick-on but normally comes to nothing

Never looks likely to score, even one on one

Set up the equaliser today didn't he? Might not be the greatest player in the world but VDV wouldn't look half as good alongside anyone else in your team.

The ball came back off his midriff - hardly set it up

VDV is quality and Crouch is not the reason why.

I believe we really are wasting our time feeding crosses and chances to him.

Would much rather start with Pav.

Someone with Berbatov's quality when at Spurs makes Crouch as a lone striker look like a school boy

Overreaction much? yes he didn't have a good game but he was left completely isolated. He is a decent player.

Yeah he's so rubbish he's played for his country almost 50 times. :)

As have, a ridiculous number of other completely hopeless players, and lots of utterly crap players have scored dozens of goals in international games for their country. Several managers have been dumb enough to play/buy Crouch, why would it surprise you an international manager is capable of the same mistake?

Crouch really is rubbish, for all his height, he fouls whoevers next to him at 80%+ of his headers, he's always leaning on whoever he's up against, pushing people down. He's 6 ft whatever, but has chicken legs and the complete inability to actually lift his frame himself which is why lots of other players beat him to headers all the time. Its also his lack of power which means he rarely if ever scores those unstoppable killer headers, or gets great knock on's. Cahill will run up put his head on the ball generate a tonne of power, Crouch walks up, jumps and the ball just hits him in the head and goes somewhere, usually a high looping slow easy to defend type "knock on".

He's rubbish, he's always been rubbish, rubbish strikers still score now and then, thats life.

As for saying VDV links up with him better than anyone else, really, 9 games into the season, VDV can't have played more than 4 of them, VDV, is that really a good measure, considering variation in teams and situation surround the games?

If Crouch was 5'11 he'd not be a professional footballer, he's been dragged along all these years as he was that "big kid" that a manager has just in case.

If Spurs want to be competitive in the top 6, let alone challenge for the title, you need someone in Berbatovs level, not Crouch's, Kevin Davies is more useful than Crouch at being a lone idiot upfront creating problems.

I'm personally not a fan, for someone so tall i think his heading ability is quite lacking, has his moments i guess but everyone does.

Rubbish - Crouch is good in spite of his height. DM, you say that if Crouch was 5'11 he wouldn't be a professional footballer? I'd argue the exact opposite. If he was 5'11 he would be given the opportunity to be a much better footballer than he is now. You're correct, he is not good at heading the ball, and this seems to be the only criticism that DM is levelling at him. He is good with his back to goal, has good vision, and is an intelligent striker. Is he a lone front man? Probably not, but is it his fault he's being played there? No.

Crouch's fellow professionals seem to just see him as a head on stilts. The fact that he isn't good at heading means that he is made to look bad when they spend entire matches firing balls at his face. When Crouch gets the ball into his feet, he's as good as most at holding the ball up. Were he 5'11, he'd be seen for what he is. An intelligent striker who can link play. At his height, people see him as somebody who should be a lone frontman, better in the air than anyone. He isn't this, and doesn't pretend to be.

And we wonder why people hold Spurs fans in such low regard...

Clearly stating what I think - Is this why we Spurs fans have low regard

Crouchy is held in high esteem, but is so mediocre.

His international goals record is good, but not just today, for a while he is looking ordinary. For someone with his height he should be hitting the target. he can't hold up the ball.

I don't want to see the back of him one day, then welcome him back with open arms - ie Rooney.

Just think we need to look elsewhere - soon

crouch is good for our game but i agree, sometimes he is poor but then he has more than made up for it and remember who scored the crucial goal for 4th place? we're better with him in the squad than without

Heh. An Arsenal fan telling us we need a good striker. Come back when you have one that isn't wrapped up in cotton wool.

Everytime i see that lanky striker on the field...i just cant help but laugh at how utterly ridiculous he looks playing as a striker...lolworthy laughs are had by me and my mates:p

But seriously hes not that bad in all honesty...he didnt have a great game but then i cant remember the last time he had a great game tbh:p.

He does have his uses though...his height helps puts defenders off, needs to work on his heading skills me thinks.
