CRT keeps "popping"

My Dell 21" CRT keeps kind of "popping" every so often (like an electrical pop), the screen kind of disappears for a split second then it stabilises again. What could this be? I hope it's not going to die on me

I have the same issue! Mine pops and goes out of focus.... The corner focus seems to be getting softer so I suspect mine is on the way out!

I am looking for a replacement TFT, suitable for image editing.

It sounds like it's degaussing or something. That pops and then the screen shivers for a second or two.

Shouldn't do it automatically though - normally just a button push away.

Probably is on its way out - my old CRT started doing that for about 3-4 months before it died.

Yeah it started doing it more after I posted this thread. Then the screen would totally lose its focus, it would pop again and it would be back to normal. It's not doing it now though, but I have seen it do it a few weeks ago.

i would have thought it could be dry joints or a component on its out....

That's what my beloved 22" Iiyama did before finally popping its clogs a couple of years back

I had this with an Amiga monitor, was a dry joint. I had the case open and used to bend the mobo to get it working!
