Both technologies have their advantages and weaknesses. The areas where CRTs are better would be speed, lag, black depth (and therefore contrast), refresh rates (and therefore tearing) and their resolution flexibility. I've got one of the best CRTs around (Dell P1130, Sony aperture grille Trinitron tube) and one of the best LCDs around (Dell 2007WFP, S-IPS panel) and for FPS games the CRT is miles ahead. It can match the brightness of the LCD too and the sharpness is very nearly as good as an LCD. Makes a massive difference having a quality CRT rather than some cheap rubbish.
However you won't be able to buy anything that good new.
